One to watch #2: Genius on the track

From Paris to the world, Genius On The Track is building a sonic universe that’s emotional, cinematic, and honoring his identity. The Franco-Congolese artist, composer, and artistic director is part of a new wave of creatives redefining what French sound can feel like blending melancholy, romance, and rhythm into something that hits both the heart and the soul.

We sat down with Genius to talk about his roots, his inspirations, and the projects he’s most proud of !

SSummary: Let’s start simple! can you tell us who you are and where you’re from?

Genius: Call me Genius. I’m from Paris, France !

SSummary: Would you like to share your background?

Genius: CONGO!!! CONGOLESE — KINSHASA AND BRAZZAVILLE. #childofthediaspora

SSummary: How would you describe what you do?

Genius: Artist/ composer; not a beatmaker, I don’t really like that term haha and artistic director !

SSummary: What’s the first sound or sample that made you fall in love with production?

Genius: The track that really got me into production is Kietu by Damso. I don’t know why, but the melancholy in that song touched me deeply.

SSummary: If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be?

Genius: Either Michael Jackson, Frank Ocean, or Rosalía.

SSummary: What inspires you the most when you create?

Genius: A lot of films ! Especially romantic and dramatic ones, like Twilight. The music in that movie is crazy ! Or landscapes, things like mountains and forests.

SSummary: Which track or project are you most proud of so far?

Genius: Les Oiseaux Rares by Théodora ft. Juliette Armanet. It was Théodora and her team who asked me to work on that track. And since the instrumental was originally meant for my own album, you can really feel my sound in it.

In a scene full of noise, Genius On The Track stands out for his emotional precision and cinematic sound. His music carries both nostalgia and ambition, proof that vulnerability can be powerful when it’s honest & raw ! Hope you’re as excited as us for what’s coming next ( an album maybe????)
